Philips is getting involved in the e-paper space. The company has developed a very unique “2-in-1” monitor. It consists of two screens, a regular LCD and an additional E INK screen built into the display. This will give users the best of both worlds, a full-color monitor and an E INK one, that is easy on the eyes. The main screen is a typical IPS-panel 23.8-inch display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels with 93 PPI. It will give you a 16:9 aspect ratio, ideal for movies and television shows. The additional screen, located to the right of the main one, is an E INK Carta HD 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 1200×1600 pixels with 150 PPI. It has a front-lit collection and colour temperature system. The E INK screen is not locked but can be swivelled 45 degrees. The E INK screen has several enhancements. It is called Easy Reading Mode by Philips. There are four text modes, each one giving you cumulatively darker text options. There are nine levels of text to make it larger or smaller on the entire display. Valid if a PDF file text is too big or too small and needs some adjusting. Ditto with just browsing the web, using programming tools etc. The monitor has a Display Port on the back for a connection to your PC. It also has a USB-C port to charge your devices and 4 USB ports.
